Umm, these are passive speakers
To the two people that posted reviews of low volume. That should be expected. These are passive speakers. This means you need an amplified source to get sound out of them. The port on your sound card does not provide any where near the power required to drive them. They should work well with a T-amp.
These speakers are fine for Computer Desktop if used properly!

These speakers deserve more credit than they have gotten in some of the other reviews here.
First of all, they are PASSIVE which means, unpowered. So of course, a computer card isn't going to drive them. You need an amp source.
Secondly, they appear to have come from a 2.1 type of sound system that had a separate bass/amp/subwoofer module - like the Logitec S220. In fact I am using them with a Logitec system because they sound BETTER than the satellite speakers that came with that system. They are a bit larger and have a more mellow tone.
How good are they? Well, they have a tuned port and if you put your hand near the port, you will feel air pulses on some music. That means they do have "oomph".
Be aware, they are 4-ohm speakers, so if you use them as extensions for something like a cassette recorder, they will not give you much, nor will they give much from an MP3 player.
BUT, if you have a 2.1 system and are looking for a little more power in the satellites, these speakers will do the job nicely, and at the price, even with shipping, they can't be beat.
Overall, as a desktop speaker in a 2.1 system, they are a fine value.

I bought several pairs of these little passive speakers for some electronics projects. For what they are, they're good.....a cheap passive speaker.
If you need more oomph than what your computer or ipod can provide, these do work great with a small t-amp. Very clear and detailed sound, if somewhat lacking in the low end. Hello! They're 3-inch speakers.
I use a pair with my t-amp for background music in the living room, a pair with my ipod's headphone jack for background music in the bedroom, and I'm going to incorporate them under my canopy for patio music. For 69 cents a pair, you really can't beat them.
